    The Booger Dance

Post by Admin on Wed Apr 24, 2013 4:42 am

The booger dance is basically a goofy dance where the fellers dress up in masks (mostly making fun of the white gov’t) & both scare the children plus try to pick up chicks.

It was called the ghost dance by whites & they were a little offended. After the Trail of Tears it was banned for nearly 100 years & if people were caught sneaking around doing it they were sent to prison.

It actually was associated with ghosts & performed during the winter months to keep ghosts from damaging the crops. Cherokees dance to ensure health & social welfare. These dances were performed to weaken harmful powers/scare away evil spirits.
